Production Planner II (SAP/4HANA)
This is an onsite position in Lansing, MI

We are seeking a Production Planner II / Advanced Production Planner to take ownership of complex production schedules, capacity planning, and cross‑functional coordination within our manufacturing operations. This role is designed for an experienced planner who brings strong SAP/SPAP expertise, sound manufacturing judgment, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving in dynamic production environments.
Position Summary The Production Planner II is responsible for developing, optimizing, and executing production schedules based on engineering plans, production specifications, and demand forecasts. This role serves as a key operational partner to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams, ensuring production plans are realistic, efficient, and aligned with customer and business requirements.
Core Responsibilities Advanced Production Planning & Scheduling
Lead finite scheduling activities, developing and maintaining monthly, weekly, and daily production schedules using SAP/SPAP
Create and manage master production schedules, optimizing sequencing, lead times, and resource utilization to meet service level and shipment targets
Perform detailed capacity and labor loading analyses, translating forecasted demand into executable production plans
Anticipate and resolve production constraints, proactively adjusting schedules to mitigate risks related to materials, labor, equipment, or demand volatility
Serve as a primary planning contact for assigned manufacturing lines or product families
ERP, Inventory & Data Management
Utilize SAP/SPAP and related ERP tools (Microsoft Dynamics experience preferred) to ensure accurate material planning, inventory visibility, and schedule execution
Coordinate production requirements to ensure timely material availability and alignment with procurement activities
Develop and analyze production reports, KPIs, and planning metrics to support operational decision‑making and continuous improvement
Documentation, Compliance & Process Improvement
Collaborate with manufacturing and quality leadership to review, revise, and approve SOPs, BOMs, production records, and training documentation
Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with internal quality systems and regulatory requirements
Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, system usage, and scheduling efficiency
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide guidance and informal leadership to junior planners or production support staff as needed
Influence cross‑functional partners through data‑driven recommendations and strong communication
Contribute to planning strategy discussions and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications Required
3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing production planning or scheduling
Demonstrated proficiency with SAP, including finite scheduling and capacity planning (SPAP strongly preferred)
Experience managing PO/PR activity and coordinating materials for production execution
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to operate independently while collaborating across functions
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and document control practices
Experience in regulated, high‑mix, or high‑volume manufacturing environments
