Process Engineer - Metalized

– Kyocera International, Inc. (North America) Location: Hendersonville, NC Pay Range: $69,000 – $100,000/year (actual base based on experience, education, market, qualifications and skills) $5,000 Retention Bonus

Role Overview As a Process Engineer, you will drive improvements in production processes, implement new systems, and lead projects that enhance safety, efficiency, and quality. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams, including production, facilities, and supply management, to ensure optimal performance and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Network with other department personnel (including engineers and supervisors) to tackle procedural and quality issues related to producing and delivering quality products.

Support, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in manufacturing the final product. Use projects to improve safety, efficiency, and quality.

Observe the startup, running, and upgrade of manufacturing processes to maximize productivity without sacrificing quality requirements; may work closely with vendors to set up new equipment.

Design, install, and commission new production processes and tools. Hands‑on knowledge and design experience are utilized daily.

Create work instructions and associated process documentation, and update existing documents following change order and revision‑control requirements.

Ensure all production personnel understand new processes or changes correctly; may train operators on new processes and solve problems at the user level.

Analyze problems and address RCAs using analytical methods.

Make observations and measurements directly, and collect and interpret data from the existing production line to adjust and correct.

Takes ownership of assigned projects and manages results from start to finish with guidance from a Senior Engineer, Engineering Manager, or production manager; may manage technicians or other engineers on projects.

Ensure safety is a priority on all tools and production activity; may train operators on safe machine practices.

Works with various team members, including facilities, EHS, quality, supply management, and production.

May be cross‑trained in a variety of skills, including inspection, testing, project management, programming, gauge R&R, drawings, and metrology.

Qualifications

4‑year degree in Engineering and at least 2 years of engineering experience in a production environment with process and equipment.

Hands‑on mechanical and analytical experience in a production environment.

Familiarity with ceramic or industrial parts processing (preferred).

Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, Lean, and Six‑Sigma principles.

Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, and/or SolidWorks; intermediate skills in SolidCAM preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with customers and outside vendors and to generate and deliver presentations to internal customers.

Eligibility to work in an ITAR‑regulated environment (U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required).

Physical Activities While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to talk or hear, regularly stand, frequently reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Environmental Conditions The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, in machining environments with exposure to coolants and/or dusty conditions. Noise level is usually moderate.
