The AECOM North Carolina Transportation team is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our growing structural and transportation group located in Raleigh, NC. This role will support the planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of bridges and related transportation structures across a variety of public-sector projects.

Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design of bridges and transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO and state DOT standards
Prepare engineering calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
Conduct bridge inspections in accordance with NBIS requirements (preferred)
Assist in the development of rehabilitation and maintenance recommendations for existing structures
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including roadway, geotechnical, and construction engineering staff
Review contractor submittals and provide construction support services as needed
Ensure quality control and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and agency guidelines
Develop and implement innovative bridge design solutions to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Participate in the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential projects
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on bridge engineering projects
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in bridge engineering and design
Collaborate with environmental specialists to ensure bridge designs meet sustainability and ecological requirements
Perform load rating analyses for new and existing bridges to determine their structural capacity
Assist in the development of bridge management systems and maintenance strategies
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
US Citizenship required due to projects associated with this position
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally within NC
Bridge engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master of Science or Master of Engineering)
PE license in North Carolina, or ability to obtain a PE within 6 months
Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., MIDAS, Leap Bridge Concrete, or similar)
Proficiency in CAD/BIM tools such as OpenRoads/OpenBridge Designer or MicroStation
Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bridge inspection experience (NBIS Team Lead certification or progress toward certification is a plus)
Experience with load rating analysis of standard bridges
Familiarity with NCDOT design procedures and standards
Field experience involving construction observation or assessment of existing structures

Relocation is not available for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000.
