Job function: Management and Manufacturing
Industry: Primary Metal Manufacturing
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimise production processes to ensure efficient and cost‑effective manufacturing.
Develop and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Conduct data analysis and develop statistical models to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and implement solutions to production challenges.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Conduct training and provide guidance to production staff to ensure adherence to established processes.
Stay up to date with new technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to process engineering.
Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and operations staff to ensure successful process improvements.
Execute tasks following the working instructions and independently take decisions as described.
Execute in a safe way; coordinate with maintenance technicians for LOTO.
Apply environmental protection, health, and safety standards and regulations.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in process engineering, including process design, optimisation, and troubleshooting. Metallurgical process highly preferred.
Strong understanding of process control principles, including experience with statistical process control.
Experience with data analysis and statistical modelling tools such as JMP or Minitab.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to identify and implement solutions to production challenges.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Experience in the metal recycling industry is a plus.

Must exhibit a leader‑coach mentality and act as a change agent with a team‑oriented focus.
Must be able to demonstrate being a key leader within cultural change.
Ability to comprehend complex problems.
Effectively communicate targets and goals to the team.

Ability to keep a cool head even in stressful situations; comfortable pivoting quickly in a fast‑paced environment.

Must be willing and physically able to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
Must be willing and physically able to work in varying cold and heat situations.
Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations.
Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.
