Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level Join Penske Truck Leasing as a Diesel Technician/Mechanic III. You’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

1249 W. Fairmont Dr, Tempe, AZ 85282

Pay:

$25.50 per hour (shift differentials apply)

Main Responsibilities

Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.

Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.

Perform preventative maintenance repairs such as tire replacement or rotation, component lubrication and replacement, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gasoline and diesel engine vehicles.

Partner with your manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching.

Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.

Basic mechanical aptitude and 1‑2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

Basic computer skills.

Compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies.

Regular, predictable, full attendance required.

For driving duties: current DOT qualification file, motor vehicle records check, DOT physical, safety performance history, and (if applicable) CDL testing and drug screening.

Willingness to work required schedule, location, complete employment application, background screening, and drug/physical as required.

Physical Requirements

Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods.

Use hands repeatedly to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, or operate tools or controls.

Work safely at heights using ladder and elevated platforms.

Work in all weather conditions.

See and hear to safely navigate the work environment.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg); occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg). Push/pull truck tires often exceeding 100 lbs.
