Mechanical Engineer – HDR
Join HDR’s Building Engineering Services team in either Charlotte or Raleigh.

Responsibilities
Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through schematic design development and contract document phase of a project.
Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
Coordinate workload to complete documentation on schedule.
Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
Review mechanical documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
Write and edit mechanical specifications; select equipment, mechanical systems and devices.
Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, incorporating agreed‑upon changes into project documents.
Provide construction contract administration as needed.
Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Coordinators or CAD Technicians as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
Local candidates are preferred.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Previous experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings.
Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
Experience in commercial or institutional facilities.
Computer proficiency using MS Office and software such as Trane TRACE or comparable manufacturer selection tools.
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or consulting firm.
Commitment to being an active participant in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
