Position Summary Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and other medications to patients, performing diagnostic studies per physician orders.
Essential Functions
Review patient history and physician's orders.
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
When ordered, prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate.
Prepare equipment and supplies.
Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
Position patient and perform imaging procedures.
Analyze results and identify issues with the quality of imaging results.
Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
Enter, transmit and report scan results.
On call availability: Must accept on call assignments for scheduled shifts and be available to report to facility within 30 minutes of notification.
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Education / Certification
Two (2) year certificate, Associate degree and/or Bachelor's degree.
Graduate of a Program Discipline in Nuclear Medicine required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Current Radiation Operator Certificate in current state, registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
