Freshman Admissions Coordinator (Student Services Professional III) Compensation and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,540 - $5,733 per month Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 - $7,893 per month This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, the Freshman Admissions Coordinator is responsible for providing admission and advising services that assist students in their transition to the university. The Coordinator admits incoming students, advises on admissions requirements and credits applicable to baccalaureate programs, identifies major requirements, and advises on pathways to meet major and General Education degree requirements. The Coordinator plans work, uses interviewing and counseling techniques, recommends solutions, and ensures admissions applications are evaluated in accordance with CSU admission policies and regulations.
Key Qualifications Interpret and apply program rules and regulations. Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements. Reason logically, analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and communicate the data verbally or in writing. Advise students individually and in groups on routine and complex matters. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, and student organizations, promoting a positive, service-oriented collegial work environment.
Education and Experience Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience and graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper-division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
