Treatment Plant Operator II – Surface Water (Full‑time)
Location City of Pearland, Texas – Houston Metropolitan Area
Salary & Hiring Incentives Hourly wage: $24.07 – $26.05 (based on experience and qualifications).
Grade C license: $2,500
Grade B license: $3,500
Grade A license: $5,000

Job Summary The Treatment Plant Operator II – Surface Water serves as a team leader for SWTP Operator I staff, providing instruction and assistance in monitoring pump stations, chemical feed systems, and all primary process areas. The role involves ensuring routine calibration of monitoring instruments, adjusting chemical metering pumps, compiling data for monthly reports, determining process chemical dose and flow adjustments, and implementing corrective procedures for water quality.
Responsibilities
Provide instruction and assistance to SWTP Operator I staff.
Monitor pump stations, chemical feed systems, and primary process areas.
Calibrate continuous monitoring instruments for compliance reporting.
Adjust chemical metering pumps and determine chemical dose and flow adjustments.
Compile data for monthly reports and determine corrective procedures for water quality.
Coordinate budget needs with PCS.
Qualifications
High school graduation or GED equivalent with specialized courses/training in the water industry or related field.
Preferable college courses or certifications in environmental science, microbiology, or chemistry.
Three (3) years of experience in surface water treatment plants or closely related field.
Experience with membrane filters preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
Valid Class C Surface Water Operator license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Texas Class C Driver’s License.
