Job Summary The College of Engineering and Computing at the University of South Carolina is expanding its tenured and tenure‑track ranks over the next several years. The Department of Electrical Engineering seeks a dynamic, tenure‑track or tenured faculty member in the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin Fall 2026. Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank must possess a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related field, plus demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research. Applicants for the Associate Professor rank must also have years of relevant academic experience commensurate with academic policy, plus a strong, sustained record of excellence in teaching and research, including competitive funding and interdisciplinary collaborations. The successful candidate will develop and sustain an independent research program closely aligned with major research initiatives in the department, such as the USC Research Institute for Extreme Semiconductor Chips. Research areas include, but are not limited to, extra‑wide bandgap material epitaxy using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), power electronic and optoelectronic device design, processing, characterization, and monolithic integration.
Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research (Assistant Professor rank).
Years of relevant academic experience and a strong record of teaching and research excellence, including competitive funding and interdisciplinary collaborations (Associate Professor rank).
Preferred Qualifications
Established track record of building and sustaining strong independent research programs aligned with major departmental initiatives.
Experience in extra‑wide bandgap material epitaxy using MOCVD, power electronic and optoelectronic device design, and monolithic integration.
