Join J. Feldkamp Design Build as a Pipefitter Helper (HVAC) in Ohio and contribute to a high‑performing team delivering top HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical solutions nationwide.
Summary Responsible for installation, modification, and repair of pipes, pipe systems, and related equipment. Performs installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment under the general supervision of the Foreman and Plumber.
Key Responsibilities
Help sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and other workers’ activities.
Cut pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe‑cutting machine.
Thread pipe using threading machine.
Bend pipe by hand or with pipe‑bending tools and machine.
Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings to hold pipe.
Assemble and install a variety of metal or non‑metal pipes and fittings, using threaded, caulked, soldering, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools.
Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.
Weld pipe supports to structural steel members.
Observe production machines in assigned area to detect malfunctions.
Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, company policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical systems.
Knowledge of industry codes.
Experience piping with cooling towers, chillers, boilers, and large rooftop equipment.
Experience with hydronic and refrigeration piping processes.
Licensing Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record at time of application and during employment.
Work Environment and Expectations
Some duties performed in an established office environment under normal lighting and climate‑controlled tolerances; noise level is low to moderate.
When at the work site, exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precious locations, outdoor weather, and loud noise.
Requires consistent physical presence at the branch office for shared services; may require flexible hours to meet job demands.
