Overview The Ironworker supports Sure Steel’s mission by assembling and erecting structural steel components with precision and safety, ensuring each project rises strong and secure from the ground up. This position starts immediately.
Key Responsibilities
Unloading, positioning, aligning, and bolting or welding structural steel components on commercial and industrial construction projects.
Raise, place, and connect girders, columns, and other structural steel members.
Use tag lines, spud wrenches, sleever bars, and other tools to align and bolt steel components.
Assist with rigging activities, ensuring safe lifting and placement of steel using cranes, and serve as a certified signalperson when needed.
Perform tack welding, cutting, and grinding of metal as required, ensuring weld quality meets standards.
Follow all Sure Steel and OSHA safety procedures and fall protection protocols, and participate in daily safety meetings and jobsite hazard assessments.
Read and interpret erection drawings, bolt‑up plans, and field work orders; understand steel member sizes, connection types, and sequencing.
Coordinate with foremen, crane operators, and crew members for safe, synchronized erection activities and communicate issues or needs effectively.
