Description Perform all duties of the job classification.

Job Duties/Responsibilities Manage all aspects of aircraft maintenance and ensure all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner. Primary duty will be Scheduled/Unscheduled Maintenance Supervisor.

Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to supervise a team.

Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Supervise maintenance staff, which includes reviewing employee performance, addressing personnel issues, generating assignments, and setting priorities.

Perform off‑site service on assigned detachments.

Instruct assigned employees on proper maintenance methods and procedures as required.

Enforce Foreign Object Debris (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.

Assist as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of government/company‑owned equipment.

Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualification Standards Satisfactory completion of specialized aircraft maintenance "A" schools or equivalent. FAA A and P license desired, but not required.

The Maintenance Supervisor shall possess an extensive background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support with a minimum of:

High school diploma or equivalent with 12 years of experience within the last 15 years in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modification, nine (9) years must be related exempt experience.

12 years experience as an Aviation Structural Mechanic – Safety Equipment or Aircrew Survival Equipmentman on the Navy/Marine Corps F18/AV8 platform.

Of the 12 years experience, six (6) years shall be in a supervisory position that included responsibility for assigning program workloads and duties for entire shifts.

Experience supervising daily flight operations personnel supporting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

Knowledgeable of the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series, NALCOMIS/OOMA operating procedures, basic supply procedures, and applicable aircraft.

Experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy; experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and protection.

Valid state driver's license; ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Formal or specialized training / equivalent

Hazardous waste communications training

FOD and TCP awareness training

Security clearance awareness training

COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 program awareness

ISO 9001-2000 program awareness

NALCOMIS/OOMA system trained

Valid state driver’s license

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license (desired but not required)

Egress system checkout certified

Aircraft towing certified

Plane captain certified

Operational risk management (ORM) training

Release aircraft safe for flight

Physical Demands This classification activity is usually accomplished in an office/hangar environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with office/hangar activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
