Test Engineer 2 (High Performance Computing) TS/SCI with Poly (Position 249)
We at BCT LLC are seeking a Test Engineer 2 for the High Performance Computing team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. Candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance with POLY and be able to submit a CASA pre‑screen before any contingent offer.
Job Description Test Engineer for an SAFe agile team focused on testing HPC systems. The SYST team evaluates HPC systems through formal test events that inform system acceptance decisions. We leverage manual and automated testing approaches, modern analytics tools, and data insights. The role requires strong foundation in hardware or software testing within large data systems, understanding Linux‑based systems, scripting, database queries, REST APIs, and experience executing formal test events.
Test Engineer Responsibilities
Independently test and validate HPC systems in accordance with test plans to ensure that system requirements are met.
Design, develop, and implement testing strategies, including automated test execution and data analysis.
Participate in all SAFe activities including planning meetings, daily stand‑up meetings, demos, and retrospectives.
Collaborate with team members to develop and execute test plans for HPC systems.
Utilize Linux command‑line interface and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to troubleshoot hardware, execute tests, and automate testing processes.
Develop complex database queries and analyze test data across various database platforms (SQL, Splunk, etc.).
Track, document, and report defects using defect tracking systems (JIRA or similar tools).
Contribute to the integration and testing of REST APIs related to hardware systems.
Work closely with cross‑functional teams to analyze system requirements and ensure that system verification standards are met.
Generate test reports at the conclusion of formal test events.
Review HPC system documentation and interpret system requirements to provide technical guidance on system testability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another STEM‑related field with 5+ years of test engineering experience applicable to this position.
Ability to develop test cases through analysis of system requirements.
Extensive experience with Linux command‑line interface and understanding of file systems, permissions, and process management.
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages for task automation: Python, Bash, Perl.
Strong expertise in database querying and data analysis; Splunk experience preferred.
Understanding of REST APIs and their practical applications.
Experience working in Scrum or a similar Agile framework.
Demonstrated experience in defect tracking and resolution processes.
Experience with Git, version control, and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab CI.
Self‑motivated with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills for conveying findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Willingness to work with cross‑functional teams and learn new tools and technologies as required.
