Diesel Mechanic Benefits and Compensation
Starting hourly rate ranges from $21 to $45. The hourly rate will vary based on skill level, experience, location and business needs. Hours: Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm. Relocation: Reimbursement Available. Benefits available (Medical/Dental/Vision/401K Match). Paid Vacation and Holidays. Other benefits include: $100 Annual Boot Allowance (paid in quarterly installments) and a $250 Semi-Annual Tool Allowance (up to $500 annually). Position Scope
KAG is hiring at all levels of Diesel Mechanics — Apprentice, Levels I, II, III, and HM183 certified. Key Responsibilities
Perform general property and vehicle maintenance and repair duties in and around shop operations in a fast-paced environment. Operate and maintain Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles, including tank trailer inspection and maintenance in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Fleet Mechanic Apprentices will receive hands-on training on preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles and tank trailers. Fleet Mechanic Levels I & II will learn and use the company’s maintenance software to create and complete work orders and maintain records; assist other technicians in preventive/repair work on facilities, equipment, trucks, tractors and trailers. Fleet Mechanic Level III will build on the duties of Diesel Mechanic I/II and may perform new technology evaluations, diagnosis and repairs. HM183 will build on Level III duties and be certified as a DOT commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR. Maintain test forms as the Registered Inspector as applicable. Requirements for Fleet Mechanic Levels I, II, and III: Valid Driver's License Minimum 1–5 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance/repair (exact level determined by experience and certifications) Holds a current Air Brake Certification in compliance with FMCSR 396.25 or has at least 1 year of verifiable experience with the ability to obtain Air Brake Certification through KAG EPA 609 certification (Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Repair) or ability to obtain certification through KAG Requirements for HM183 Positions: Valid Driver's License Verifiable proof of 3-year tank testing commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR or at least 1 year of verifiable experience under a qualified inspector with ability to obtain DOT inspector certification through KAG Physical Requirements Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; anything over 50 pounds is lifted with assistance Equal Opportunity
