Job Dimensions & Responsibilities Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, this position is accountable for:

Implementing technical engineering solutions to improve current manufacturing processes and develop new processes and product enhancements for HWS.

Supporting daily operations to achieve OEE targets by monitoring the process, analyzing data, optimizing inputs, and troubleshooting issues.

Monitoring and maintaining die & tooling health to support optimal part quality and coordinating die & tooling repair and refurbishment.

Key Activities & Challenges

Develop manufacturing‑friendly process improvements and new processes: test concepts, build business cases, resolve technical issues, prove process robustness, startup manufacturing processes, transfer technology, and prepare process documentation.

Develop product enhancements and new products: provide product samples, conduct necessary tests, build business cases, and prepare process documentation.

Identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Provide project management for development projects.

Identify potential new technologies that add value to the business.

Environment, Health & Safety Requirements

Reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager.

Provides technical support to the global HWS organization for developing new technology, processes and products, and for continuous improvement to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product marketability.

Requires hands‑on assistance in a forging environment, including problem‑solving, troubleshooting and occasional off‑shift and weekend support.

Internal contacts include Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Design, Quality, Supply Chain and EHS personnel. External contacts include other Howmet locations, university contacts and technical consultants, Cleveland Works vendors, die & tooling shops, machining sources, polishing sources, destructive testing sources and customers.

Regular communication with technical department staff and the Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering and Quality teams in the Cleveland flow path and occasionally with all global manufacturing sites.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering or other suitable technical education.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Legal authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship is not available).

Preferred Qualifications

Emphasis in forging, product inspection, CMM (Zeiss preferred), flow forming/spinning, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, data analytics, automation and smart manufacturing.

Strong technical background in mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.

High degree of people skills to motivate and influence others.

Knowledge of conventional aluminum processing, Howmet Aerospace Business System, and methods for assessing process capability and driving continuous improvements.

Thorough understanding of forging process and standard practices acquired through extensive experience in various technical assignments.

Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people under varying circumstances.
