Diesel Mechanic Technician
Ryder System, Inc. is hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet in Williston, Vermont.
Position Description Immediately hiring a Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Williston, Vermont.

Hourly Pay: $36.00 per hour
Certification Bonus: up to $700 for each new ASE certification obtained
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)
Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 after 30 days and $2,500 after 90 days
Schedule: Monday‑Friday (weekends OFF)
Hours: First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Responsibilities
Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) and all OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days.
Perform standard, preventive, and complex vehicle maintenance and repair, including routine oil changes, brake and tire work, diagnostics, and major engine repairs.
Use diagnostic computers and software to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems.
Provide remote triage with RCRC and customers for roadside breakdowns.
Maintain facility equipment and support system maintenance duties.
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance and repair procedures.
Coach and mentor junior technicians.
Advise shop management on shop repairs and utilize shop management system and electronic documentation.
Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
Other support duties as required.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Vocational/technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred.
Four (4) years or more of relevant work experience preferred.
Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A preferred.
Basic tools required.
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive or diesel engines, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and some major engine repairs.
Ability to perform all T3 tasks.
Effective communication skills.
Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse).
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Availability for shift work, weekends, and on‑call duty as required.
Preferred ASE Certification in PM, brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics or ASE Master Mechanic.
Proficiency operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment.
Minimum tool requirement and ability to road‑test vehicles as necessary.
Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others.
Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
