Hybrid 3-2 work schedule: three days in the office, two days of teleworking. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience, will be considered. This position does not sponsor visa or employment authorization.
Job Summary Join Dominion Energy Project Construction group as we help the company fulfill the Virginia Clean Economy Act and re-create the future of renewable energy. Your role will involve managing substation and generation tie‑line projects, reporting to the Manager – Construction Projects. You will handle new construction and uprate projects across Dominion Generation, including regulated and merchant work, solar, offshore wind, battery storage, small modular reactors, renewables, and fossil‑fuel fired generation facilities.
The Project Manager will coordinate with developers, engineers, local officials, real estate professionals, contractors, and other external stakeholders from initial site review through EPC contract negotiation to final permitting, construction, commissioning, and post‑COD activities. You must have technical understanding of generation, transmission, and distribution facilities and be able to manage a large workload while meeting stakeholder expectations, schedules, budgets, and multiple work scopes.
Responsibilities
Attend weekly and monthly project meetings
Review notices, change orders, milestone payments, etc.
Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and facilitate resolution
Facilitate review of engineering design package
Support resolution of construction issues
Facilitate review of turnover documentation and milestone completion requirements
Track and report on engineering and construction progress
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
3+ years of experience managing projects or multi‑functional teams
Project management experience including developing and managing scope, budget, and schedule
Strong organizational skills to manage deadline‑driven queue processes
Ability to conduct business case analysis, translate information into useful formats, and draw conclusions
Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
Ability to lead negotiations and manage high‑level meetings and discussions
BAS/BS degree from an accredited university
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in generation interconnection work as either the interconnection customer or transmission owner
Electrical Engineering Degree desired
Ability to provide business decision support and participate/lead special projects
Self‑motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Ability to work with technical and non‑technical business owners to overcome obstacles and deliver results
Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and related experience) in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related fields applicable to Project Construction in utilities.
Licenses, Certifications or Quals GWO required for positions supporting Offshore Wind. Preferred certifications: EIT, PE, PMP, PMI‑CP.
