Renewable Entry‑Level Mechanical Engineer WSP is currently initiating a search for a Renewable Entry‑Level Mechanical Engineer for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. Be involved in projects with our Renewables Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of renewable energy projects from generation source to the Point of Interconnection (POI).

Responsibilities will range from preliminary solar/wind/BESS site design through the detailed design of low to extra‑high‑voltage renewable collector substations and gen‑tie transmission lines.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions.

Required Qualifications

BSME (BS Mechanical Engineering), BSR (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), or related engineering degree from an accredited university preferably with a power option.

Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering.

Strong command of the English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others.

Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

0–1 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience (internship or co‑op).

Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Preferably an engineering degree with a power option from an accredited university.

Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

FE/EIT exam passed is strongly considered.

Familiarity with design/drafting or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, Inventor, etc., as well as Microsoft Excel.
