Job Overview The Quality Engineer provides Quality Assurance, Quality Systems, and Supplier Quality support for manufacturing locations. The Quality Engineer conducts internal quality controls to ensure established quality procedures and standards are followed. This role conducts routine quality analysis and tests/inspections of a quality control program, where duties and tasks are standardized. This role also monitors and records inconsistencies with quality procedures and standards. This individual prepares standard quality analyses and recommends necessary quality procedure changes. This role also records and analyzes customer claims.
Responsibilities
Provide daily factory floor support on matters involving product and process quality.
Champion the disposition of incoming materials and provide supplier development feedback.
Using 8D based techniques, RCA, Risk based thinking, FEMA, etc. Analyze and develop Corrective and Preventative actions for Customer Product Returns, Complaints and Performance Inquiries.
Provide technical oversight for first article inspections and create incoming material inspection plans.
Author, Edit and Participate in reviews of document to assure the quality of products and processes.
Using RCA, FMEA, etc. Investigate manufacturing and supplier issues to develop solutions, which prevent re‑occurrence.
Assist and promote quality improvements and cost savings, through continuous improvement processes such as Kaizen Events, DF(x), etc.
Develop Quality Plans for both new and existing products to ensure consistently high levels of outgoing product quality.
Create inspection and product test procedures as well as visual aids.
Assist Design Engineering in identifying required revisions to drawings and prints, with emphasis on clear, Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters.
Support both first article and incoming material inspectors on technical matters.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (required)
3 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
Ability to perform Capability and Measurement Systems Analysis
Proven skills in problem solving and product investigation
Familiarity with statistical analysis and data analysis tools
Experience writing and revising procedures, work instructions, forms, visual aids, etc.
Certified Six Sigma Green or Black Belt considered a plus.
Technical awareness of Welding techniques and standards a plus.
Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Visio, etc.)
Problem solving expertise: 8D, RCA, Fishbone, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills.
Must have the ability to write procedures, work instructions, and visual aids.
Ability to interpret product and component drawing/blueprints.
Basic working knowledge of QA related instrumentation and gauges
Experience working within an ISO 9001-2015 registered, or equivalently certified QMS (required)
