$225,000 – $310,000+ An elite global law firm is looking to add a mid-level Tax Controversy Associate (3–5 PQE) to its renowned US & International Tax practice in New York. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside top-ranked partners on complex, cross-border disputes involving both administrative and litigation-based tax controversy matters.
Key Responsibilities
Represent clients in IRS administrative proceedings and federal tax litigation
Assist with audit defense, appeals, and litigation strategy development
Conduct legal research and draft memos, pleadings, and briefs
Analyze complex international tax issues, including treaty interpretation and transfer pricing
Collaborate with transactional tax teams and cross-border advisors on integrated controversy strategies
Candidate Requirements
3–5 years’ experience in US federal tax controversy (administrative and/or litigation)
Background in Big Law, Big 4, or IRS Office of Chief Counsel preferred
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
LLM in Taxation is a plus, but not required
Admission to the New York Bar required
Strong academic credentials and commercial awareness
Compensation & Benefits Base salary range:
$225,000 – $310,000 depending on class year
