Public Accounting Firm Seeks Experienced Tax Accountant
This is a permanent, full‑time position for a highly motivated and experienced Tax Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting and Finance team. The role involves preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns, providing tax‑planning services, maintaining tax records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. You will act as a key member of the finance function, collaborating closely with the accounting team, representing clients in audits, and staying up‑to‑date on tax law changes to advise management and staff.
Base pay range $85,000.00/yr – $105,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and non‑profit organizations.
Researching and interpreting tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Assisting clients with tax planning and providing advice on tax‑related issues.
Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date tax records, and ensuring that all tax payments and filings are made on time.
Liaising with tax authorities and representing clients in case of tax audits or disputes.
Working closely with other members of the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Keeping abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, and advising management on the financial implications of such changes.
Providing training and guidance to junior staff on tax‑related matters.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA certification is an added advantage.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation and planning, with a focus on federal and state tax.
An Enrolled Agent (EA) certification from the IRS, or the willingness to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
A thorough understanding of tax laws and regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply them in various situations.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to handle complex tax issues.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients and other team members.
Proficiency in tax preparation software and other accounting tools.
