Position Summary:
The Assistant Registrar for the manages all functions associated with student academic records, including but not restricted to: registration, course scheduling, and institutional record keeping, degree audit and conferral, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of student and institutional records, compliance with all relevant state and federal laws and regulations, and reporting to relevant institutional stakeholders. The Assistant Registrar works closely with the Registrar, deans, and faculty to enforce academic policy and also provides support to all Yeshiva University Offices of the Registrar.
Position Responsibilities:
Reports to the Cardozo Registrar
Manages all Registrar services for students and faculty, including but not limited to schedule creation and maintenance, student registration, transcript processing, grade processing, transfer credit evaluation, graduation audits and conferral, processing of bar forms and student requests for information, and duplicate diploma requests
Manages compilation, recording, verification, and dissemination of all data related to student enrollment, curriculum, academic progress, and grades to relevant constituencies within the University and state and federal accreditation agencies
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Registrar
Coordinates graduation duties
Supervises the clerical staff
Participates in the development of University policies and procedures regarding student records and registration, and works with the Dean to update the academic catalog yearly
Takes a leadership role in the formulation, approval, and implementation of new and existing campus policies and procedures
Engages in professional development opportunities as a representative of YU, including keeping up to date with federal and state educational policy requirements regarding enrollment and recordkeeping
Responds in a timely manner to telephone inquiries, walk-in customers, and email inquiries
Responsible for the maintenance and security of student files and the archiving of student records
Responsible for all reporting on behalf of the Office of the Registrar
Assist in preparing registration materials for registration periods, including lottery registration
Assist during registration processes with student, faculty, and administrator inquiries
Acts as a liaison to other institution partners to facilitate recordkeeping, cross-listing, and registration of jointly offered courses
Responsible for maintaining and updating forms as new policies and procedures arise
Assists with the administration of all procedures associated with student registration, including course descriptions, prerequisites, credits, and scheduling of courses and classrooms
Perform degree audits and certification of graduates and distribution of diplomas
Perform National Student Clearinghouse enrollment and degree verifications
Coordinate with the deans on the format and timing of submission of the schedule of classes, collect the material from the deans, review and prepare the material for publishing
Administration of all procedures associated with student registration, including course descriptions, prerequisites, credits, and scheduling of courses and classrooms
Oversees critical and high-level projects and system testing as assigned by the University Registrar and Cardozo Registrar
Update the Registrar’s Office website
This position requires occasional travel and support to all Yeshiva University campuses, including the Wilf and Beren campuses

Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree is required along with 5-7 years’ experience in an administrative position in higher education, with familiarity with scheduling, registration, academic record keeping, systems analysis and programming, including transfer credits and graduation checks; National Student Clearinghouse updates
Candidates should possess at least 3 years of experience in a college or university administration setting, with a preference in a Law School Registrar’s Office. Experience in academic records management, curriculum administration, and student services preferred
Knowledge of FERPA and other relevant federal and state laws is required
Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs, as well as experience with statistics and data analysis required
Skills & Competencies:
Establishment and maintenance of a service-oriented culture in the Registrar’s Office that provides a positive working relationship with students, faculty, and other administrators
Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
Supervise clerical and hourly staff
Collaborate effectively with various university constituents
Ability to collaborate effectively with both university and school administrators
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, strong analytic and problem-solving skills, ability to multitask, effectively prioritize work, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment, including employee development and performance management skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word is required
Skill in the use of computerized student information systems, such as Banner, is strongly preferred
Salary
$67,000 - $72,000
