Aerospace Paint Assistant - 1st Shift
Reports to: PS1 Paint Assistant, Value Stream Manager
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, Non‑Exempt (hourly)
Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday – Friday, 6:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M.
Job Summary Employees in this position will prepare parts to apply paint and primers, lay parts on screens, transport loaded screens to paint booths/ovens, and sand parts. Paint Assistants may be required to join the FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program and perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications.
Responsibilities
Work closely with experienced Painters and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads.
General review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed; notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards.
Perform inspection, measuring, and testing or part surfaces as required.
Maintain paint guns and paint booths ensuring cleanliness at the close of shifts.
Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
Follow Quality Assurance requirements.
Follow safety precautions as trained.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Pre‑employment and annual physical exam required; ability to wear a respirator.
Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
Ability to read/write communicate in English with other employees, customers, and auditors.
This position requires access to export‑controlled information and all applicants must satisfy U.S. export control regulations with authorization to work in the U.S.
Education / Previous Experience Requirements
1–2 years in a manufacturing environment a plus.
Essential Mental / Physical Demands
Ability to lift occasionally: floor to knee 114 lbs., waist to waist 63 lbs., floor, knee, to waist 75 lbs., waist to shoulder 30 lbs.
Ability to carry 63 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to push/pull 59 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk frequently.
Ability to sit occasionally.
Ability to reach from the shoulder and overhead occasionally and from the waist frequently.
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl occasionally.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
Ability to push/pull frequently.
Ability to pivot, twist, pinch occasionally.
Ability to grasp frequently.
Ability to see/hear/feel constantly – hearing protection required when working in the area.

Salary Range for Position $16.66 – $45.00 per hour. *DOE Dependent upon experience in years and/or combination of experience and coursework training. Experienced Process Support 1 Assistants may generally start between a median hourly range of $18.50 to $20.75 per hour.
