Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our reputable personal injury law firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of financial concepts, and experience working with various accounting software. Key Responsibilities

Settlement & Trust Accounting

Prepare settlement statements and breakdowns for clients

Process settlement distributions, attorney fees, and lien payments

Manage client trust accounts in full compliance with State Bar rules

Monitor incoming settlement funds and ensure proper allocation

General Accounting Duties

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable

Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reports

Perform bank and trust account reconciliations

Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

Work closely with leadership on financial reporting and budgeting

Operational Support

Coordinate with case managers and attorneys regarding settlement updates

Communicate with medical providers regarding lien reductions and payments

Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with firm policies

Assist with audits, financial reviews, and internal controls

Qualifications Required:

2+ years of accounting experience (legal or PI firm experience preferred)

Strong understanding of debits, credits, reconciliations, and financial entries

Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, CosmoLex, Clio, or similar)

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly

Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred:

Experience with personal injury settlements

Trust accounting and IOLTA experience

Knowledge of medical liens, attorney fees, and legal accounting procedures

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
