About the Company Genesis Capital is one of the largest business purpose lenders in the country, focused on providing commercial real estate financing solutions to real estate developers who buy, renovate, and sell single‑family and/or multi‑family residential real estate. The Company is a subsidiary of Rithm Capital, a publicly traded mortgage real‑estate investment trust.
Job Responsibilities The Credit Underwriter is responsible for evaluating new lending opportunities and performing comprehensive analysis to determine the creditworthiness of the borrower. Responsibilities include:
Assess risk in the borrower’s business strategy and real‑estate projects.
Prepare credit memorandums outlining lending opportunity, key risks, mitigating factors, and analysis.
Conduct credit analysis evaluating the applicant’s creditworthiness, financial strength, and loan repayment capacity.
Perform market analyses and review real‑estate appraisals.
Work with Loan Officers, Relationship Managers, and all Genesis departments to obtain due‑diligence items.
Present credit memorandums to Credit Management for review and approval.
Analyze legal documentation to understand borrower structure and support AML/KYC compliance.
Essential Functions
Assess risk in the borrower’s business strategy/experience and real‑estate investments.
Prepare credit memorandums and briefing documents.
Perform financial analysis and cash‑flow modeling.
Conduct market analysis and real‑estate appraisal review.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders for due‑diligence and compliance.
Present findings to Credit Management.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum 3+ years in commercial real‑estate banking or private real‑estate lending (underwriting, credit analysis, or related experience).
Experience in construction lending is a plus.
Knowledge of complex real‑estate lending, loan structuring, and financial analysis fundamentals.
Financial modeling and pro‑forma financial statement preparation.
Knowledge of credit underwriting policies and procedures.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications for pipeline management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong underwriting judgment and ability to consolidate information from multiple sources.
Ability to identify risks, conduct analysis, and articulate concise recommendations.
Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Effective multi‑tasking and prioritization to meet deadlines.
Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
