Human Resources Generalist & Payroll Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist & Payroll Specialist to join our Diamond Buick GMC dealership team in Alexandria, Minnesota.
The Human Resources Generalist & Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support while managing all aspects of payroll administration. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employees and managers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing both routine and complex HR tasks.
Key Responsibilities Human Resources
Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and programs.
Support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, applicant screening, interviewing coordination, and on-boarding.
Facilitate new-hire orientation and ensure timely completion of all on-boarding documents.
Maintain employee files, HRIS data integrity, and confidential records in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Assist in the administration of benefits, including enrollments, changes, open enrollment, and employee communications.
Support employee relations by helping address concerns, conducting fact-finding, and escalating issues as appropriate.
Assist in performance management processes, including review cycles, goal tracking, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with HR-related federal, state, and local laws (FMLA, ADA, Wage & Hour, paid leave laws, etc.).
Process Workman Compensation claims and manage questions and OSHA reports.
Coordinate training sessions, compliance initiatives, and employee engagement activities.
Support policy development, updates, and implementation.
Payroll
Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees.
Verify time sheets, hours worked, PTO usage, and other payroll inputs.
Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation for audits and compliance checks.
Review and audit payroll reports to ensure accuracy in wages, taxes, deductions, and employer contributions.
Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
Coordinate with finance/accounting on payroll-related reporting, GL coding, and reconciliations.
Manage payroll changes such as pay rate adjustments, status changes, garnishments, and benefits deductions.
Qualifications & Benefits
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
3-5 years of HR Generalist or HR Coordinator experience; payroll experience strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of HR laws, payroll regulations, and best practices.
Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
32-40 hours a week.
$25.00 to $30.00 per hour based on qualifications.
This is not a remote position.
