General Foreman Millwright I – Zachry Group A Millwright General Foreman will manage multiple crews in installing, assembling, dismantling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery at a combined‑cycle power plant. This includes the construction of a heat‑recovery‑exchanger generator (HRSG), gas and steam turbines, large industrial generators, and other miscellaneous machinery involved in the construction of a Combined‑Cycle Power Plant.

POSITION SUMMARY The role requires overseeing multiple crews, ensuring precision alignment, installation, and maintenance of high‑complexity machinery, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

QUALIFICATION HIGHLIGHTS

Experience with industrial machinery installation, repair and maintenance of Power Generation machines and equipment.

Proficient in reading blueprints, schematic drawings, engineering specifications.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures.

Hands‑on experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.

Possession of all Journeyman Precision Millwright hand tools.

Minimum 4‑5 years industrial construction/maintenance experience.

Minimum 3 years Millwright experience in Power Generation Plants.

Reliable transportation and ability to work 7 days as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with industry‑specific and highly complex precision machines including ball mills, ID fans, lube coil skids, turbines, conveyors, generators, hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors, etc.

Plan, inspect, verify, and document scope of work.

Use precision leveling and alignment tools to measure angles, material thickness, and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, optical instruments, and other tools.

Fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors, and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings.

Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.

Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.

Fabricate and install parts, equipment, and machinery by measuring, cutting, drilling, and/or welding.

Operate engine lathes, grinders, files, and other machining equipment.

Construct foundations for machinery and fabricate parts to dimensional specifications.

Unload, inspect, move, and set equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.

Use rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs to move equipment/materials into place.

Conduct preventative maintenance such as lubrication and repair of worn parts.

Follow direction from supervisor and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history.

Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools such as lasers, ultrasonic measuring and alignment tools, plumb bobs, cutting torches, welding machines, hydraulic torch wrenches, hydraulic stud tensioners, soldering guns, and metal‑working equipment including lathes and grinders.

Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment.

Understand load properties of cables, ropes, hoists, and chains.

Demonstrated ability to use certified hand signals.

Strong organization and time‑management skills.

Good problem‑solving abilities.

Manual dexterity and aptitude for precision work.

Knowledge of math concepts, geometry, and layout.

Demonstrated ability to lead others and provide detailed instructions.

Good reading comprehension.

Team‑player and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

NCCER Certification for Journeyman Industrial Millwright.

Zachry ROF’ed employee.

Former Zachry employee.

Basic computer efficiency.

Formal or technical education.

REPORTS TO POSITION This position will be responsible for multiple crews that will be led by foreman supervisors in their daily work. It may manage up to four crews, each having up to eight‑twelve workers. Foremen of the crews will report directly to this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting required.

Ability to talk and hear for communication.

Good hand and finger dexterity for precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.

Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.

Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.

Occasional work at heights, climbing ladders, stairways, and working off platforms.

Vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and for long periods up to 12 hours a day.

Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel‑toed boots.
