Join Kent’s Mechanical Commissioning team in Houston, TX, supporting offshore projects in the Gulf of Mexico. The role alternates between 2 months onsite in Houston and 4 months offshore.
About the Job Kent is seeking Mechanical Commissioning Technicians with offshore experience to support a KENT project. The position involves mechanical system handover and commission work in the energy sector.
Responsibilities
Reports to the Site Mechanical Commissioning Lead
Always demonstrate excellence in HSSE leadership behaviours.
Drive performance by conducting integrated Handover Readiness meetings with Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operations stakeholders, removing blockers on priority systems.
Collaborate with the Start‑up Manager to ensure safe and effective execution of Systems Completion activities and meet all requirements.
Manage setup, implementation, and overall management of the Project CMS.
Validate and verify Engineering tag data and upload to CMS.
Maintain Master set of Limit of System Handover (LOSH) drawings.
Coordinate and execute Systems Completion activities required by the Systems Completion Plan.
Ensure all team members using the CMS are fully competent within the Systems Completion Database as it relates to their role.
Monitor commissioning activities and assist in resolving systems‑completion related issues to ensure satisfactory quality (Check‑sheet, Punch list, MOC, Redlines).
Align with Project Engineering, Construction, Quality, Procurement and Start‑up/Operations.
Serve as the subject‑matter expert and resource for the Project’s Systems Completion activities.
Apply lessons learned from previous projects.
Manage Systems Completion interfaces to facilitate safe and successful handover and seamless transition of facilities from Project to Operations.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad‑hoc tasks within the reasonable scope of their skills, capabilities, and role.
Knowledge / Qualifications
10+ years of Project Completion and Operations experience.
Previous successful management experience during Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, and Operations planning.
Knowledge of offshore process plant, surface and subsurface facilities, utilities, and architecture of offshore and/or onshore gas and oil producing facilities.
In‑depth knowledge of Project Completion standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria.
Strong understanding of Project execution, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning & Completion practices.
Demonstrated management and organizational ability for small to large teams with strong people skills.
Strong understanding of work planning, scheduling and tracking.
Exposure to client practices, processes, and expectations regarding Systems Completion, Preservation, Commissioning and Start‑up operations.
Extensive experience in commissioning on Oil and Gas Major Projects. Ops experience is an advantage.
Qualified in the discipline field and hold training competency certifications.
Current or previous certifications in BOSIET, SafeGulf, and T‑huet / Huet.
Previous experience with completions management process and system.
Understanding of Control of Work processes during execution.
Understanding of basic industry standard safety protocols.
Communication
Full fluency in English is required.
