Job Description Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking a Building & Construction Technical Inspections Engineer to join our team in Middleton, WI. What you’ll do
Provide technical expertise related to inspections to field and inspection personnel, as well as Intertek internal personnel and clients, serving as the subject matter expert for both Certification and the Follow‑Up Service Inspections process.
Conduct reviews of documented manufacturer’s production and quality processes; review required production tests, including methods, equipment used and calibration of equipment, providing recommended engineering judgements and making determinations that will impact and direct the client’s workflow.
Manage the interface with external businesses, including clients, accreditors and AHJs to troubleshoot and resolve any issues or concerns related to the inspection results.
Direct field personnel with surveillance inspection inquiries in accordance with established certification and inspection guidelines.
Review ETL Listed product reports, subassemblies and components with respect to the Certification Documents; review ETL label inventory and control; review non‑compliances issued as a result of inspections and document unresolved issues.
Review compliance and non‑compliance found during the inspection, and advise clients/Intertek personnel on proper resolution.
Mentor less senior technical personnel.
Perform other work as required.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
3 or more years of directly related experience.
Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC).
Experience in Building/Building Products space.
Ability to travel as business needs dictate, possibly up to 50%.
Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
Must have access to the internet and strong computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior project management experience.
Experience with QA/QC.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to read small print with or without corrective lenses.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to drive for prolonged periods of time during the daytime and evening hours.
Benefits The base salary range for this position is
$65,000 - $75,000 . In addition to competitive compensation packages, benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, a 401(k) with company match, generous vacation/sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement, and more.
