BIM Coordinator

At Via Collective, we are committed to designing experiences that connect, guide, and inspire. As the

Signage & Wayfinding BIM Coordinator , you will transform 2D sign artwork into fully functional, data-rich Revit families, ensuring they meet LOD 300 requirements and are seamlessly coordinated into architectural models. You will manage the integration and technical execution of our wayfinding systems, bridging creative design intent with rigorous documentation standards. This is a critical, detail-oriented role responsible for maintaining model accuracy, data integrity, and compliance across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities Revit Family Creation & Development (Signage-Focused) You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of a Revit family, from initial design input to company library deployment, ensuring the following workflow is maintained.

Preparation:

Gather final design inputs, including dimensions, material callouts, mounting methods, vector artwork (AI/DWG), and the required LOD (e.g., LOD 300).

Template Setup:

Choose the correct family template, preferably a Generic Model – Face Based.rft, for maximum flexibility and to avoid orphaning.

Geometry & Parameters:

Build accurate geometry to LOD 300, including correct thickness, material differentiation, and three-dimensional components (e.g., panel, backer, frame).

Intelligence:

Establish locked dimensions and reference planes (width, height, depth).Create Shared Parameters (e.g., Sign Type, Message/Text Value, Mounting Height, Material) that allow for automatic scheduling and tagging.

Types:

Define multiple Family Types within the family to represent size, graphic, or material variants (e.g., ST-101A vs. ST-101B).

QA/QC:

Test the family's flexibility by ensuring geometry does not break, materials update, and symbolic lines are aligned. Set correct visibility settings for plan, elevation, and detail levels.

BIM Coordination & Project Integration

Placement: Integrate and place sign families into the master Revit model based on sign location plans and elevations.

Coordination: Coordinate signage locations with architectural, interior, and environmental conditions to confirm adequate clearances, proper wall types, mounting substrates, and ADA compliance.

Clash Management: Ensure all model elements are clash‑free and properly assigned to categories and phases.

Documentation: Integrate the family into project schedules (Signage Schedule, Material Schedule) and validate that tags read the shared parameters correctly. Prepare sheets, views, and detailed drawings for final documentation packages.

Library Management: Maintain and update the clean, efficient sign family library following company standards for naming and metadata.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with environmental graphic designers, project managers, sign engineers, and fabrication partners.

Communicate model changes, conflicts, or missing 2D information promptly.

Support coordination meetings and contribute BIM expertise to address modeling challenges or architectural conflicts.

Qualifications Experience:

3+ years of experience in a BIM Coordinator or Architectural Drafting environment. Experience in environmental graphic design (EGD) or signage/wayfinding is preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Technical Knowledge:

Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit 2025 (Family Editor and project-based modeling). Strong understanding of LOD 300 requirements. Proficiency in interpreting 2D artwork (DWG, AI, PDF) and converting it to 3D elements. Familiarity with Sign Agent Pro and CAD tools is a plus. Knowledge of sheet setup, view templates, and annotation standards. Knowledge of signage fabrication components (panels, frames, mounting) and construction documentation. Knowledge of ADA signage requirements (font, sizes, mounting heights).

Personal Attributes:

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
