Who are we hiring? The Senior Accountant will support MSG Entertainment’s Corporate Accounting department in day‑to‑day operations and in monthly and quarterly accounting close.
What will you do?
Ensure timely completion of public company month‑end closings for corporate accounting, including the preparation of journal entries for assigned accounting areas (cash, fixed assets, payroll and benefits expense, operating expenses) in accordance with the monthly closing calendar.
Prepare accurate and detailed balance‑sheet account analysis as assigned.
Analyze Oracle financial reports, investigate underlying driver variances, and provide commentary on observed trends.
Review monthly operating results for Corporate Departments to ensure financials are complete and accurate.
Manage the MSGE fixed‑asset process, including CAR review, monthly sub‑ledger close process, and related financial reporting.
Assist with company‑wide utilization of financial systems to enhance accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
Support the Corporate Accounting group with day‑to‑day activities.
Support system updates and conversions for general ledger and sub‑ledgers by recommending enhancements, validating expectations through testing, and driving successful rollout and implementation.
Liaise with various departments (Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Tax, External Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, Investor Relations, IT) and assist on cross‑functional work products.
Complete special projects accurately and in a timely manner, as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
BS or BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (preferred).
2+ years of related experience in a fast‑paced large‑company environment.
Strong understanding of the monthly close process.
Familiarity with or interest in Fixed Assets and Technology transactions (preferred).
CPA in progress or completion strongly preferred.
Heavy exposure to financial statements, account analyses, and reconciliations.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced and challenging environment.
Ability to interact with cross‑functional groups.
Strong spreadsheet skills, writing, and communication skills.
Ability to be flexible, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Ability to evaluate processes and recommend/implement more efficient practices.
Pay Range $75,000—$90,000 USD
