Overview
The Outreach Recruiter supports the enrollment goals geared toward traditional and non‑traditional student inquiries and applicants and assists current and prior Career & Technical Education (CTE) students with certificate/degree transition, maintains current business relationships, and creates new opportunities. The recruiter must possess strong oral and written communication skills to promote the mission of Rowan College of South Jersey in a variety of forums and to a diverse group of students and community members. The recruiter will be able to articulate the college’s academic programs of study, support services, student life and athletic opportunities, maximizing the effectiveness of technology to engage and enroll future students.
Examples of Duties
Effectively communicate the college’s enrollment procedures, academic program offerings, and student services to prospective students, community members, and college personnel in an articulate and professional manner.
Maintain a calendar of individual appointments with prospects and applicants to help them navigate the enrollment process. Appointments may occur on and off campus and in virtual forums.
Support recruitment and enrollment related events such as open house’s, college fairs, business chamber events, campus tours, middle and high school visits, and community fairs with the goal of lead generation and ongoing follow‑up. Events may occur on and off campus, in person and in virtual settings, during morning and evening hours, and on weekends.
Engage prospects utilizing new Customer Relations Management (CRM) technologies designed to recruit students via print, email, phone, text message and social media campaigns, as well as through in‑person and virtual forums.
Support supervisor to ensure successful recruitment of traditional and non‑traditional inquiries and be knowledgeable about scholarship opportunities.
Assist the recruitment office with executing new student engagement platforms, including planning and attending events on campus, at middle schools, high schools, and in the community.
Maintain knowledge in the areas of CTE division program offerings, selective admissions, articulation agreements and programs with various high schools, transfer pathways with university partners, articulation agreements with four‑year institutions, and transfer credit practices.
Assist in developing and editing enrollment campaigns, promotional literature and web‑based resources working in collaboration with various departments on campus.
Maintain monthly reports to track and analyze recruitment efforts.
Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of academic records; maintain compliance with FERPA, college policies and administrative procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the college as well as various associations/organizations across the region.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or 60+ college credits required.
Experience working in higher education, preferably within recruitment.
Demonstrated ability to communicate the college’s programs in an articulate and effective manner to individual students and large groups.
Ability to innovate and create processes and communication plans reaching diverse student populations.
Demonstrated proficiency and aptitude for learning new technologies and utilizing the Microsoft 365 platform and emerging software to connect with and track student engagements.
Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and college needs.
Ability to travel to multiple educational institutions, utilizing personal vehicle for travel.
Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings.
Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, and a commitment to a student‑centered environment.
