CEL is an Irish based 40‑year manufacturer, distributor and exporter of electrical switchgear and controls, and related products and services, focused on supplying the global Data Centre industry. Operating from 400,000 ft² of manufacturing capacity in Williamsburg, Virginia, we aim to double in size each year for the next three years.
Position Overview Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Mechanical Assembly Training Officer is responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining training programs for mechanical assembly processes. This role ensures that assembly personnel are fully trained in best practices, safety standards and quality requirements to achieve operational excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing Training Development & Delivery
Design and implement training programs for mechanical assembly for our full product range
Conduct hands‑on training sessions for new hires and existing staff
Develop training materials, SOPs and visual aids for assembly processes
Competency Management
Assess skill levels of assembly technicians and identify training needs
Maintain training records and certification status for all assembly personnel
Support continuous improvement through refresher courses and advanced training
Process & Quality Compliance
Ensure all training aligns with company standards, ISO requirements and safety regulations
Promote adherence to mechanical tolerances, torque specifications and assembly quality checks
Continuous Improvement
Work closely with Production, QA and Engineering to maintain live content based on design changes or process improvements
Provide feedback to engineering on assembly challenges and suggest improvements
Safety & Best Practices
Train staff in safe handling of tools, lifting techniques and PPE usage
Embed lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices into training programs
Requirements Qualifications & Experience
Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
+3 years in mechanical assembly experience within switchgear or similar industry
Previous experience in training or mentoring roles preferred
Strong understanding of mechanical assembly techniques and tools
Ability to create clear training documentation and deliver engaging sessions
Experience with LV power distribution equipment, including switchboards, PDUs and RPPs
Excellent analytical, verbal, written communication and organizational skills
