Job Description
New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is looking for a
Billing Specialist - Charge Entry
(Remote, full‑time, Monday‑Friday) to join our professional billing team. As a Billing Specialist‑Charge Entry you will review provider schedules and charges to ensure accurate coding, following CPT and ICD‑10 guidelines, verify provider charges, sequence diagnoses and procedures, deliver quality billing for hospitals, labs, and radiology, and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Review daily charges for accuracy and completion.
Monitor final diagnoses and procedures provided for validity and follow up as needed.
Review electronic medical records to ensure proper coding compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.
Quantitative and qualitative analysis of records for patient identification, signatures, dates, documentation consistency, and adequacy.
Analyze documentation to assign appropriate Evaluation & Management levels with correct CPT codes.
Accurately bill hospitals, laboratories, and radiology charges from provider schedules.
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, legal requirements, and department policies.
Perform other related duties as required by managers and the practice.
Required Experience
High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Requires working knowledge of ICD‑10 and CPT.
2+ years of medical billing and coding experience.
Surgical billing experience preferred.
Radiation oncology billing experience preferred.
CPC Certification preferred.
Medical terminology knowledge.
Strong customer service background.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Team‑oriented mindset.
HIPAA compliant with patient confidentiality understanding.
