The Sponsor's office is responsible for building and operating a hybrid‑cloud mission infrastructure and services, hosting dozens of COTS, GOTS, and custom applications, and maintaining a large data lake. It does not rely on the Sponsor's enterprise IT services; instead, it manages the architecture, engineering, implementation, and operation of infrastructure components (computer, network, storage) and enterprise services such as VDI, Active Directory, audit, and logging. The role requires support specializing in systems engineering and IT project management. The System Engineers will assist the Sponsor in shepherding multiple IT systems through security accreditation processes, create documentation such as System Security Plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user manuals and troubleshooting guides, decompose customer requirements into technical solutions, incorporate system requirements, performance, and life‑cycle cost analysis, and determine the architectural impact of proposed changes. They will also brief stakeholder boards, assist with project estimation, scheduling, and cost of cloud solutions, provide technical support ensuring the integrity of data flow, enhance business efficiency and insights, establish standard processes for installation maintenance and enhancement of middleware applications, provide technical and strategic guidance on new database implementation and major existing database maintenance, offer 24/7 on‑call support worldwide, evaluate technical and cost implications of forensic tools and recommend deployment strategies, provide end‑to‑end support of field network and forensic capabilities, produce SOPs and related documentation to support field users, and research and recommend system, equipment, and technology upgrades. Responsibilities also include diagnosing and resolving access issues for overseas populations, inspecting and testing equipment, identifying requirements issues, negotiating requirement changes, planning and implementing solutions for storage and data backup, applying patches and upgrades, ensuring data security, monitoring physical storage infrastructure, inspecting arrays for failures, and determining efficient IT infrastructure deployment. The role requires installation and configuration of operating systems and applications, adapting approaches to project constraints, eliciting requirements from stakeholders, and providing Tier 1 through Tier 3 support for technology products and applications.
