SQL Database Administrator role supporting day-to-day operations and management of enterprise level production databases dedicated for the QRM application.
Responsibilities
Assist with day‑to‑day management of the database architecture covering live and non‑live environments.
Liaise with all areas of IT and the QRM business to understand and implement IT and business strategy requirements, including IT database auditing and vulnerability assessment.
Ensure systems are carefully monitored and any major issues are escalated to the right teams.
Provide on‑call support as part of a rotation with other team members; experience with Enterprise SQL Server provisioning, patching and upgrades.
Work effectively with other infrastructure and application support teams to ensure high performance.
Maintain non‑production environments, perform restores and backups across environments.
Perform database query performance analysis and optimization using tools such as Query Store, Foglight and App Dynamics.
Implement automation of database refresh/archive tasks between servers, handling pre‑ and post‑refresh tasks.
Monitor SQL Server and AlwaysOn Availability Groups with Foglight and/or Moogsoft tools.
Configure failover and failback using SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Group for business continuity and disaster recovery.
Provide incident management, deployment management and business continuity support for database servers.
Integrate Spectrum Protect or Cohesity backup infrastructure with SQL Server database backups.
Ensure database backup & recovery practices adhere to organizational security standards.
Implement adequate levels of auditing and review database audit logs.
Automate database copy related processes.
Qualifications
Mid‑Senior level DBA experience.
Contract employment.
Strong technical skills in Microsoft SQL Server DBA and related monitoring tools.
Experience with Enterprise SQL Server provisioning, patching and upgrades.
Proficiency in database query performance analysis and optimization.
Experience with Spectrum Protect or Cohesity backup solutions.
Knowledge of database backup and recovery practices.
Experience implementing database auditing and review processes.
Experience with automation of database-related tasks.
