Mid Backup and Storage Engineer

Core4ce is seeking a Mid Backup and Storage Engineer capable of providing advanced expertise in the deployment, administration, and optimization of storage and backup solutions supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This role ensures end users and mission systems maintain reliable access to data and are protected against data loss through resilient, scalable storage and enterprise backup systems. The selected candidate will be required to perform duties on-site within a cleared space at Joint Base Charleston and must meet all associated security and access requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, configure, and manage enterprise DHA storage systems (NetApp SAN, Dell EMC Unity, Dell EMC ECS).
Operate and maintain the Commvault backup system, ensuring reliable backup and recovery of virtual machines and enterprise data.
Troubleshoot and remediate issues with problematic or corrupted storage devices, migrating data when required.
Allocate storage space, expand or adjust drives, and ensure appropriate use of datacenter storage resources.
Deploy, configure, and maintain storage arrays.
Track storage capacity across global sites, recommend procurement of new storage hardware, and provide DHA with recommendations on effective utilization.
Collaborate with Government and contractor leads to ensure solutions meet mission and security requirements.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of professional experience in enterprise backup and storage engineering roles.
T5 investigation Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
Hands‑on experience with Dell EMC Unity, Dell EMC ECS, and NetApp SAN storage systems.
Proficiency operating and maintaining Commvault backup solutions (media agents, servers, restore processes).
Strong background in enterprise‑class storage provisioning, backup operations, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated expertise in capacity planning, hardware lifecycle management, and data migration.
Desired Qualifications
At least one relevant industry certification such as VMware Certified Associate (VCA), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or similar certification.
Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise datacenter environments with stringent compliance requirements.
Familiarity with DHA systems, Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, and DoD cybersecurity guidelines, such as Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800‑53.
Prior experience scaling enterprise backup and storage solutions across globally distributed infrastructures.
