Pay Range

Base: $66,951 – $94,121 per year.

Responsibilities

Under guidance of PE 1/PE 2, review, evaluate, and develop recommendations, implement determination on variance petitions associated with public/private sector programs and provide expert engineering consultation on safety and health matters to the Division of Safety and Health staff.

Consult with PE 1/PE 2 before meeting and dealing with public, professional engineers, architects, and other professional consultants.

Assist PE 1/PE 2 at public hearings on revised and new standards and provide additional technical information.

Travel occasionally and maintain satisfactory means of transportation when required.

Qualifications

Engineer's Trainee (Industrial) – Salary Grade 18: Possess a qualifying degree at time of exam application OR proof of passing NCEES FE exam AND one year of engineering experience in applicable area.

Assistant Engineer (Industrial) – Salary Grade 20: Successful completion of NCEES FE exam OR 52 weeks of service as an Engineer Trainee and FE exam.

Qualifying degrees: Architectural Engineering, Architectural Engineering Technology, Building Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Design Engineering, Environmental Resources Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Forest Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technology, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Soil and Water Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.

Degree awarded by a U.S. accredited college/university; if outside U.S., provide independent verification of equivalency.

Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
