Systems Engineer 4 – (25-446) - R10217780 Location: Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL. This role is essential in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer, Systems – Systems Engineer (25-446) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: No relocation assistance available.

CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret.

TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the time.

Note: This position requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges during all flight phases, serving as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems globally and regionally to improve performance.

Essential Functions

Develop and publish corporate business automation plans using cost-effective delivery technologies to support major corporate strategies.

Perform complex software design integrating multiple technologies.

Provide architectural guidelines for all software design activities across current and future technology environments.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technologies, planning, design, and analytical methodologies.

Responsible for the design and architectural guidelines for current and future software technology initiatives.

Design C2BMC AT and DEF software solutions to meet customer requirements.

Lead a team of high-performing individuals across a multi-site, multi-disciplinary organization.

Analyze high-level needs and refine them into an evolving architecture that culminates in a fielded product.

Communicate technical approaches and findings clearly and effectively.

Write and implement engineering plans for a project.

Demonstrate technical skills and responsibilities for the position cited here.

Architect automation pipelines to enable effective development in rapidly changing environments with tight deadlines.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 1 year of relevant work experience.

Current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) required at application time.

Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at application time required.

Willingness to travel between development sites (Colorado Springs or Huntsville) may be required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and maintain poise in a dynamic environment.

Self-starter who initiates research and documents results clearly.

Strong understanding of system software deployment architectures and CI/CD.

Demonstrated leadership skills over software projects.

Ability to document architectures using system modeling tools such as CAMEO or Enterprise Architect.

Ability to understand and decompose requirements to support verification and validation testing of software components.

Ability to generate detailed, repeatable, automated test procedures.

Ability to extract data to support analysis requirements.

Generate procedures that test functionality.

Apply Agile and Lean product development principles and train others in a DevOps-type environment.

Experience with VMware, Linux, and Windows operating systems; Git, Ansible, JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Excel & Visio; and other open-source development tools.

Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions.

Understanding of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering.

INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.

Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF) certification.

VMware certifications desired.

Additional Northrop Grumman Information Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00.

Additional comments on salary and benefits apply based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives for VP/Director positions.
