Duties As a civilian federal civil service Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator with the Department of Navy’s Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida, you will work in the Production Lines Division, MRO Production Department at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE).

Your responsibilities as a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator will require you to:

Perform calibration, repair, maintenance, and certification of a variety of electrical, electronic, and/or physical/dimensional test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Use industry-approved procedures and test methods to perform precise measurements on general-purpose mechanical and electronic test equipment for the U.S. Navy's Metrology and Calibration Program.

Receive detailed instructions to perform routine and repetitive calibration, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance on precision measurement equipment of limited complexity.

Qualifications The quality of your background, not necessarily the length of your experience, will determine how you qualify for this position. Your resume and supporting documentation should specifically describe your experience and training to show that you have the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform common tasks as described in the screen-out below.

Planning the work in using various precision measurement instruments and standards, such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, measurement machines, and other test equipment, and setting up and operating a variety of equipment and standards under actual or simulated operating conditions.

Applying a comprehensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic principles and operating electronic principles related to equipment that is integrated with other devices.

Reading, interpreting, and applying a variety of technical electronic data, such as schematic symbols, wiring diagrams, tables and charts, mathematical expressions and formulas, calibration procedures, and color codes used in the trade; using scientific notation for very large or small quantities; AND

Using basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and mathematically determining the effect of temperature, humidity, and other variables on the equipment undergoing calibration and the calibration standard used.

NOTE: U.S. citizenship required and the ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Salary and Benefits This skilled trade position has a WG-10 wage range of $28.16 - $32.86 per hour.
