Office Assistant II
Base pay range:
$32.72/hr.
About the Job:
Performs a variety of assigned clerical and patient care duties essential to daily operations. Duties may include patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, charge entry, co‑payment collection, and medical record operations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Contribute to department goals, adhere to policies, quality and safety standards.
Greet patients, triage inquiries, complete reminder calls.
Complete preliminary intake, schedule and update patient records.
Perform insurance verification and coordinate authorizations.
Handle billing in the practice management system, including guarantor info, benefit info, etc.
Collect patient payments and reconcile via the EMR payment log.
Run daily and weekly EMR reports, manage alerts.
Assemble paperwork for physicians, assist patients with forms.
Obtain referrals and diagnostic reports.
Monitor case management in the EHR.
Maintain a clean waiting area and monitor supplies.
Assist with scheduling at physician centers.
Train and supervise team members in the supervisor’s absence.
Collaborate with insurance specialists, nurses, and secretaries to coordinate procedures.
Minimal Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Equivalent education considered.
Associate’s degree preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
Experience
3‑4 years medical‑office experience in a rehabilitation setting.
1‑2 years within MedStar National Rehabilitation Network.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Highly organized, process‑oriented, multitasking, self‑starter.
Ability to follow instructions and assist patients safely.
Professional and friendly interaction with patients and visitors.
Teamwork and open communication.
Positive and professional image as the clinic’s first point of contact.
