Responsibilities
Heritage Oaks Hospital is part of the UHS Family of Providers, a highly regarded mental health system serving Sacramento and Northern California since 1988. A fully accredited, 125‑bed acute psychiatric hospital offering tailored treatment services to adolescents, adults, and seniors, including substance abuse and chemical dependency care. Full‑time Health Information Management (HIM) Technician will process internal and external reports, retrieve and file permanent records, re‑file continuing records, and perform any additional duties assigned by the Director of Medical Records. Abstract statistical data from discharged patient records using the hospital abstracting system. Accurately code admission, interim, and final diagnoses using DSM and ICD coding manuals and their versions. Safeguard and preserve the confidentiality of patient identifiable information in accordance with hospital and departmental policy. Qualifications
Education: Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent. Experience: Basic clerical training, including computer skills, basic filing skills, and fundamental knowledge of office procedures. Basic knowledge of medical content and sequence. Fluency in English with special emphasis on alphabetization and processing work using alphabetical and numerical filing systems. RHIT certification required. CPR certification and successful completion of the hospital's designated physical and behavioral management training program, including de‑escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint, required before assisting in procedures.
