Senior Payroll Manager
Location:
Hybrid (3 days onsite; increased onsite presence during peak payroll periods)
Compensation:
$120,000–$130,000 base + bonus

Role Overview This role leads payroll operations within a shared services environment, overseeing large‑scale, high‑volume U.S. and Canadian payroll. The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible for accuracy, compliance, team leadership, and continuous process improvement in a fast‑paced, complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee end‑to‑end processing of high‑volume, multi‑state U.S. and Canadian payroll (10,000+ employees)
Manage and develop a payroll team of 24 (including managers and specialists)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian payroll regulations
Maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliance
Partner with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors
Drive process improvements and support system integrations
Handle escalations, pay corrections, reporting, and special projects
Maintain confidentiality and data security standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (preferred)
Minimum 7+ years of payroll experience in a high‑volume environment (10,000+ employees)
Active CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) required
Multi‑state U.S. payroll experience required
Canadian payroll experience required
At least 3 years of recent payroll management experience
Proven experience managing large payroll teams
Strong understanding of payroll compliance, wage & hour laws, garnishments, and payroll tax reporting
Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
