Part‑time Building Brains Educational Leader
Gwinnett County Government seeks a part‑time Educational Leader to prepare, facilitate, and deliver enrichment programs such as field trips, summer camps, and other public activities. The role is primarily based at the Environmental & Heritage Center and may involve travel to historic sites and other county locations.
Essential Duties
Orient, monitor, and lead children in literacy, science, social studies and STEAM enrichment activities.
Demonstrate a command of the subjects taught.
Maintain positive engagement with youth, adults, and seniors.
Present curriculum aligned with academic standards for K‑12.
Ensure smooth transitions and safety of participants between activities.
Communicate all issues and concerns with supervisors.
Participate in professional growth and learning opportunities.
Exhibit enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a broad audience, including interacting with the general public.
Public‑Speaking Duties
Lead programs for up to 30 participants of various ages.
Attend outreach events to promote upcoming programs and educate the public.
Deliver ad‑hoc tours and answer questions.
Other Requirements
Fingerprinting required.
May need on‑call rotation and emergency availability on weekends, holidays.
Compensation $16.80 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in science, history, environmental science, education, childcare, or a closely related field AND one year of experience in a professional elementary/middle/high school, college‑level setting, summer camp program, museum, or historic site.
Valid driver’s license.
Pass a 50‑pound lift test.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
CPR and First Aid certification, completed within the first 45 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND two years of similar experience.
