Responsibilities Mettler Toledo is seeking to hire a Technical Application Consultant (TAC) to support the Northern California and Colorado regions. In this role, you will be responsible for achieving regional revenue targets by delivering expert product, software, application, and sales support to our Materials Characterization sales team, as well as providing technical assistance to our customers. You will provide on‑site problem solving and customer training as needed.

Support assigned sales reps on high‑value and complex sales opportunities.

Assist in aggressively growing and achieving annual sales targets in both revenue and units.

Technical/application Tier II support (via phone, e‑mail, laboratory, & direct) to customers and prospects.

Technical/application support to sales people and other inside support personnel in customer service, field service and technical support.

Organize ongoing regional training opportunities for service technicians.

Analyze customer samples, develop practical methods and prepare professional reports in support of selling efforts and customer needs.

Assist or conduct customer training both in‑house and in the field.

Market support functions such as preparation of technical documents, technical review of new literature, and development of publications and white papers.

Assist the organization in understanding, developing and quantifying new applications and market opportunities.

Guide, train and inform inside personnel as well as field personnel on developments in the TA product line.

Understand competitors' products and become the technical expert on providing differentiation of the MT product line.

Development and presentation of technical papers and other support documents in‑house, at professional organizations, and at prospects and customers.

Provide demonstrations and technical support using the Virtual Video Lab as needed.

Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or materials science from a four‑year college or university, preferably analytical or physical chemistry; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PhD in chemistry or materials science is highly desirable.

Experience with thermal analysis instrumental techniques such as TGA, DSC, DMA, TMA, TGA‑MS and melting point is mandatory.

Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical proficiency including basic arithmetic as well as advanced skills in calculus and differential equations are required.

Travel is required; candidates must be willing to travel as needed.
