We are seeking a highly skilled
Security Systems Technician Lead
to oversee the implementation and maintenance of security infrastructure at our colocation data center. This role is crucial to ensuring the physical and digital security of our facilities, protecting client assets, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in access control systems, surveillance technology, intrusion detection, and data center security protocols.
Job Requirements
Must commute reliably to Childress, Texas or plan to relocate prior to starting work.
Must lift up to 49 lbs.
Must participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation.
Pre‑employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
Must provide own steel‑toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies
Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in security technology, electronics, or related field.
Experience: 3–5+ years in security systems, preferably in a data center environment.
Certifications: NICET, Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), CompTIA Security+, or vendor‑specific certifications.
Experience with Lenel, C‑Cure, Avigilon and Genetec required.
Technical skills: Strong knowledge of IP‑based surveillance systems, biometric authentication, badge access control, intrusion detection, network cabling and patching, and network security integration.
Compliance knowledge: Familiarity with data center security standards and audits.
Leadership: Proven experience managing technical staff, security vendors, and coordinating large‑scale security projects.
Problem‑solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve security system issues in a high‑availability environment.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interactions, security reporting, and compliance documentation.
Job Responsibilities
Lead a team of technicians in installing, configuring, and maintaining security systems tailored for data centers, including biometric access control, perimeter monitoring, and video surveillance.
Configure network switches: Deploy Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switches, including VLAN configuration, port security, spanning tree, and other standard protocols.
Troubleshoot and replace faulty switches: Diagnose issues with non‑responsive or malfunctioning switches using tools such as console access, network monitoring software, and loopback tests; replace and reconfigure hardware as needed.
Test and replace network cabling (Cat6 and fiber): Perform continuity, signal quality, and performance testing on copper (Cat6) and fiber optic cables using appropriate tools (e.g., cable testers, OTDRs); replace damaged or degraded cables to ensure optimal connectivity.
Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of security hardware, software, and network‑based security solutions.
Implement security best practices to protect server rooms, network infrastructure, and customer IT equipment.
Ensure compliance with data center security standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
Collaborate with facility operations and IT network & security teams to enhance physical and cybersecurity integration.
Manage security system upgrades, vendor relations, and new technology deployments.
Conduct security risk assessments and implement emergency response protocols for incidents such as unauthorized access or equipment theft.
