Job Description Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The

Security Analyst

is responsible for providing comprehensive systems, network, and security support across the College. This role ensures endpoint security, data integrity, and identity management technologies are configured and maintained in compliance with Reynolds and Virginia Community College System (VCCS) security requirements.

This is an onsite, in-person position.

Key Responsibilities Security & Compliance

Configure, manage, and audit endpoint security, data integrity, and identity management systems.

Audit and support security procedures for enterprise applications, including SIS, AIS, HRMS/HCM, Cardinal, and eVA.

Perform vulnerability management, including auditing, mitigating, and reporting risks on network and system resources.

Ensure compliance with VCCS and Commonwealth of Virginia security standards, policies, and procedures.

Risk Management & Continuity Planning

Develop, maintain, and update:

Business Impact Analysis (BIA)

System and Network Infrastructure Risk Assessments

Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP)

Conduct required annual and quarterly audits.

Create and maintain system, infrastructure, and security policies and standard operating procedures.

Systems & Infrastructure Support

Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for servers and infrastructure.

Support the Computing Support/Help Desk team as needed.

Manage Active Directory and Group Policy for college systems.

Support endpoint deployment, patch management, and maintenance of college-owned computers.

Manage and report on enterprise patching, policy creation, and directory services using Windows, Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft 365.

Endpoint & Network Management

Manage endpoint and server security technologies, including EDR solutions, encryption, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Create, package, and deploy software in a Windows enterprise environment.

Support network infrastructure, including:

Network segmentation

Switch and port configurations

Wi‑Fi troubleshooting

RF spectrum surveys

Technical & Operational Skills

Interpret and troubleshoot scripts used for system configuration, automation, and data parsing.

Learn and champion new technologies in a fast‑paced environment.

Work independently on complex projects while managing multiple priorities.

Communication & Collaboration

Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.

Collaborate with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

This role may require sitting, standing, and stooping for up to 1 hour at a time. This role will also need to be able to lift up to 50lbs for short periods.

Minimum Qualifications

Training in computer information systems or a related field.

Direct experience managing enterprise endpoint tools, imaging, software packaging, and patching.

Demonstrated experience with Tier 1 and Tier 2 server and infrastructure support.

Proficiency in creating and interpreting scripts (PowerShell, Batch, or similar).

Experience with enterprise vulnerability scanning, risk analysis, and mitigation tools.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work independently.

Physical ability to sit, stand, and climb ladders and routinely lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Additional Considerations Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field.

Security certification such as CompTIA Security+.

Experience with Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft 365, and modern endpoint management platforms.

Experience supporting enterprise networks and security operations in higher education or government environments.
