Base Pay $45,100.00/yr - $77,600.00/yr
Work Hours:
40+ hours / week: M - F
About the Role Inspects electric distribution construction to ensure conformance with specifications, standards, field inspection manual, and plans. The Inspector will keep accurate records of construction activity logs and verify as-builts to ensure accurate mapping of utilities as installed for various job types including DOT projects, internal maintenance/capital projects, and development projects. The Inspector will need to be organized and able to develop workflow tracking methods while also utilizing basic Microsoft suite programs along with in‑house project tracking systems. Will serve as field liaison between construction crew and project manager/designer. Inspections will include both overhead and underground electric installation. Additional underground inspections would include trenching, directional boring, and duct bank/manhole installations. Will have frequent interaction with customers, contractors, consultants, and other utility representatives. Must be knowledgeable of construction materials and methods for overhead/underground electric distribution and fiber optic systems. Works closely with Operations staff and/or external customers, primarily in support of operations and project activity. Receive training to perform storm response duties with other department members. Time will be split between field and office as dictated by projects and workload; must be able to work overtime as required.
Physical Requirements May require walking up to five miles per day over rough and/or hilly terrain when assisting with field surveying and layout work. Requires above normal mental and visual alertness quite frequently. Position may require ability to: drive vehicles; bend, stoop and lift various objects weighing 10-75 lbs two to three times per week; and work in all types of weather, with exposure to equipment and machine noise, dirt, and traffic.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, standards, and specifications
Ability to document daily tasks using Microsoft Word, Excel, or other software as requested
Ability to work as part of a team to achieve department and KUB goals
Valid driver’s license

Preferred Requirements
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Computer‑Aided Drafting and Design, or related field
Three (3) or more years of experience in engineering or construction, preferably in the utility industry
Ability to utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other computer‑aided drafting software
