Transportation Engineering Technician III (61033352)

Job Responsibilities
Perform inspection duties on road and bridge construction projects as a certified inspector in at least three of the following SCDOT/ACI/SCDES certifications.
Inspect construction projects in areas not requiring certification, such as pavement markings, grassing, sign installation.
Document daily construction activities and field measurements on standard inspection forms and diaries.
Sample and conduct field tests on construction materials for compliance with specifications.
Monitor workzones by performing regular inspections and completing weekly 600.02 forms for day and nighttime inspections.
Perform survey duties with survey instruments and test equipment to establish and maintain required construction lines and grades.
Assist in training and development of construction inspectors.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
High school diploma and two (2) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience; or an approved equivalence.
Attainment of a Technician Certification in accordance with the SCDOT Technician Certification Policy may substitute for six (6) months of directly related experience.
Physical demands: ability to sit or stand for extended periods, occasional travel, lifting up to 50 lbs., work outside normal schedule during emergencies.
Required driving and walking for extended periods, ability to work near traffic and in natural hazards.
Additional Comments May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.
